𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗢𝗳 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲'𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲! 💚💚💚 Kangala Wildlife Rescue is overjoyed to announce the successful rescue of Valerie, the miniture dachshund who went missing on Kangaroo Island 529 days ago. 💚💚💚 After weeks of tireless efforts by Kangala Wildlife Rescue volunteers and partner organisations Valerie has been safely rescued and is fit and well. 💚💚💚 We are absolutely thrilled and deeply relieved that Valerie is finally safe and able to begin her transition back to her loving parents, Josh and Georgia. 💚💚💚 This rescue was a true testament to the dedication and perseverance of our team, the unwavering support of the community, and the power of collaboration. There were many challenging moments over the past month, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a part in bringing Valerie home. 💚💚💚 The search for Valerie involved over 1000 volunteer hours and more than 5000 km travelled by volunteers in their private vehicles, the deployment and monitoring of numerous cameras and traps and the use of various forms of technology to successfully secure Valerie while ensuring her physical and psychological welfare. 💚💚💚 Kangala Wildlife Rescue would like to thank all those who offered their time, resources, and support during this demanding operation. 💚💚💚 This successful outcome highlights the vital role that wildlife rescue organisations play in our community, extending their expertise and compassion to all animals in need. Valerie Update 🐾💚

Hello to all our friends worldwide who have come along on this incredible journey with us to help Valerie find her way back to her loving parents, after more than 500 days missing in the beautiful wilds of Kangaroo Island.🏝️ The team has been working tirelessly around the clock for weeks now on this mission, with the main focus being Valerie’s safety and her mental health, doing everything we can to make the transition back home as stress free as possible.💚 Valerie is now attending at our trap site on a regular basis, even is that means she disappears for 5 or 6 days we now know she will return. She has become confident entering the large dog trap which has been set up like her own little room with her toys and bed from home, mums clothing, hidden food and challenges to keep her entertained. We have seen an amazing change in Valerie’s demenour recently as she begins to remember all those familiar smells, tastes and sounds.💚🐾💚 Due to the abundance of wildlife and Valerie’s constantly changing schedule it’s been impossible to safely secure Valerie in the trap using our normal methods of the allowing the dog to trigger the trap themselves or manually triggering it while hiding near by. While Valerie has been gaining confidence coming in to the trap we have been working hard to manufacture a remote trigger system for the trap using the mobile phone network. We are happy to report that after a few tests and modifications it looks like we have a system that will work. The final part is due to arrive this week so we can install it. We have some amazing footage of Valerie during her visits to the trap site including the video on this post. 🎉UNDISPUTED HIDE AND SEEK CHAMPION OF THE WORLD, MISS VALERIE, REMAINS UNDEFETED!!!🎉 💚 True to form, after consecutive nights of visiting the rescue site, Valerie has given us the cold shoulder and gone off on one of her side missions.
