Ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι βρέθηκε σε ναρκοπέδιο στην Ανγκόλα, με προστατευτική εξάρτηση και θύμισε την Νταϊάνα.

Ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι ακολούθησε τα βήματα της μητέρας του Νταϊάνας και την πέμπτη μέρα της βασιλικής περιοδείας που πραγματοποιεί με τη σύζυγό του, δούκισσα του Σάσεξ, στην Αφρική, επισκέφθηκε ένα ναρκοπέδιο στην Ανγκόλα.

Το ναρκοπέδιο έχει μερικώς καθαριστεί και κατά τη διάρκεια της επίσκεψής του σε αυτό ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι περπάτησε σε μία διαδρομή που του υπέδειξαν οι αρμόδιοι ζητώντας του παράλληλα να μην αγγίξει τίποτα ή να τρέξει. Το μονοπάτι που ακολούθησε μάλιστα ο βρετανός γαλαζοαίματος ήταν γεμάτο με προειδοποιητικές σημάνσεις που έγραφαν «επικίνδυνες νάρκες». Ο Χάρι συναντήθηκε επίσης με μέλη της μη κερδοσκοπικής οργάνωσης HALO Trust ώστε να ενημερωθεί για το ζήτημα των ναρκοπεδίων και το πώς η οργάνωση αυτή βοηθά την τοπική κοινότητα.

Φυσικά, οι εικόνες του Χάρι στο ναρκοπέδιο θύμισαν την επίσκεψη της μητέρας του Νταϊάνας, το 1997, σε ένα ναρκοπέδιο στο Χουάμπο, όπου φορώντας ειδική προστατευτική στολή προσπάθησε να ευαισθητοποιήσει τον κόσμο για το ζήτημα των ναρκών.

Ενώ βρισκόταν στην περιοχή του ναρκοπεδίου ο πρίγκιπας Χάρι επαίνεσε το έργο της HALO Trust τονίζοντας ότι «τα ναρκοπέδια είναι ένα σημάδι του πολέμου που δεν έχει επουλωθεί».

Αργότερα, ανέβηκαν στον επίσημο λογαριασμό του στο Instagram μια φωτογραφία της μητέρας του και στη συνέχεια μία δική του, στέλνοντας  μήνυμα για την απαγόρευση των όπλων και την προστασία της ζωής των ανθρώπων και κυρίως των παιδιών.

In 1997 Diana Princess of Wales visited Huambo to bring global attention to the crisis of landmines and the people whose lives were being destroyed. Two decades later, the area has transformed from desolate and unhabitable to lively and vibrant, with colleges, schools and small businesses. The Duke is humbled to be visiting a place and a community that was so special to his mother, and to recognise her tireless mission as an advocate for all those she felt needed her voice the most, even if the issue was not universally popular. Princess Diana’s visit helped change the course of history, and directly led to the Convention against Anti-Personal Landmines, also known as the Ottawa Treaty. Today, with the support of @thehalotrust, Angola now has a stated aim under the Treaty to be clear of known mines by 2025. Despite great progress, 60 million people worldwide still live in fear of landmines every day.
