Farewell, Terry Jones. The great foot has come down to stamp on you. My god what pleasure you gave, what untrammelled joy and delight. What a wonderful talent, heart and mind

News that arrives like a punch to the gut. Thanks for making us laugh so much, Terry. https://t.co/v5W9KyO14I

Terry Jones was the only Python who agreed to appear in The Young Ones. It was like affirmation from God himself. This was the man who’d directed what was, and still is, the funniest feature film ever made. We loved him for it, and always will. Sadly, he’s eaten his last mint...

Saddened to hear of the death of Terry Jones. A comedy genius who along with his fellow Pythons made us laugh for years. He directed, in my view, the greatest comedy of them all in Life Of Brian. Very thankful for The Life Of Terry. #RIPTerryJones

Terry Jones was marvellous for so many reasons, but the most I ever laughed was watching him shout "spam spam spam" when that sketch first went out, as my parents watched in bemusement, and a bit cross. Other people's youth rebellion involved Hendrix but that was mine.

I once had a long chat with Terry Jones about Chaucer. He was as smart as a whip, and a while later he very sweetly sent me a signed copy of one of his books. We have lost a true original. Mortality is a proper bastard. RIP Terry. pic.twitter.com/3coCi18EdT
